Police Officer Relieved After Filing False Robbery Report Against Two Students
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A police officer assigned to General Trias, Cavite has been relieved from his post after allegedly filing a false report that linked two college students to a robbery incident in Trece Martires City.
Cpl. Don Carlos Almonidovar, 37, was reassigned to the Cavite police’s Administration and Records Management Unit following an order from Calabarzon police director Brig. Gen. Dominic Baccay.
The action came after college students Ace Guadalupe, 20, and Andrie Lape, 19, filed complaints for physical injuries and grave threats against Almonidovar. The two students had reportedly been accused by the police officer of involvement in a robbery.
Almonidovar had submitted a report to the Trece Martires police identifying Guadalupe and Lape as suspects in the alleged robbery. However, the police investigator who handled the incident reportedly found that the accusation was not supported by the circumstances of the case.
Meanwhile, National Police Commission-Calabarzon chief Owen de Luna has ordered a special investigator to conduct a separate inquiry into the incident and determine whether further administrative action should be taken against the police officer.
