DILG Pushes for One-Year Extension of PBGen. Hansel Marantan’s Tour of Duty
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is seeking a one-year extension of the tour of duty of Police Brigadier General Hansel Marantan, citing his exemplary performance, operational expertise, and significant contributions to law enforcement efforts in the CALABARZON region.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla confirmed that he has formally endorsed the request to the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), stressing that Marantan’s continued leadership is crucial to sustaining the momentum of ongoing high-impact police operations.
In his recommendation, Remulla said the extension is being sought “in the interest of the service” to ensure the continuity of critical law enforcement initiatives currently under Marantan’s command. He added that the police official’s proven track record, extensive operational experience, and specialized skill set remain essential to the Philippine National Police.
As Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 4A (PRO-4A), Marantan oversees police operations across the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, and Rizal. Under his leadership, the regional police have intensified anti-criminality campaigns and strengthened peace and order efforts, earning recognition for the command’s operational accomplishments.
Marantan is set to reach the mandatory retirement age of 56 on July 10. Despite his scheduled retirement, the DILG believes his continued service would help preserve operational stability and ensure the successful completion of ongoing programs and strategic law enforcement initiatives in the region.
