AboitizPower Joins Brigada Eskwela Efforts in Pagbilao to Prepare Schools for New Academic Year
PAGBILAO, Quezon — Therma Luzon, Inc. (TLI), a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation, joined the Department of Education’s (DepEd) annual Brigada Eskwela program in Pagbilao, Quezon, to help prepare local schools for the opening of classes.
Working alongside students, teachers, and parents, TLI volunteers participated in various school improvement activities, including campus clean-up drives, landscaping, and repainting of school facilities. The initiative was carried out at two schools on Isla Grande: Pagbilao Grande Island National High School (PGINHS) and Binahaan Integrated School (BIS).
Beyond routine maintenance efforts, AboitizPower also provided funding for infrastructure improvements aimed at creating a safer and more conducive learning environment for students.
At Pagbilao Grande Island National High School, the company supported the rehabilitation and enhancement of the school’s covered court. The upgraded facility is expected to serve as a venue for Physical Education classes, school assemblies, and other student activities.
Meanwhile, at Binahaan Integrated School, AboitizPower financed the construction and installation of a new, durable main gate to strengthen campus security and improve access control within the school grounds.
“The impact of these infrastructure improvements goes beyond aesthetics. By building a stronger main gate at Binahaan Integrated School, AboitizPower is directly contributing to a safer and more secure campus environment for our students,” said Catalino L. Porta, Public School District Supervisor of Pagbilao.
According to company officials, TLI’s participation in Brigada Eskwela reflects its commitment to community partnership and resilience.
“We do not view this as merely a donation or a corporate obligation—it is a responsibility we share with the communities we serve,” said Lou Deligencia, AboitizPower Assistant Vice President for Corporate Services for South Luzon and Metro Manila. “Through Brigada Eskwela, we honor the dedication of teachers, parents, and students who work tirelessly for the future of our nation.”
The Brigada Eskwela activities in Pagbilao highlight the positive impact of collaboration between the government and private sector in supporting educational institutions and local communities. As the new school year begins, the initiative not only improved school facilities but also reinforced a collective commitment to providing students with a safe, inclusive, and empowering learning environment.
